I just finished a white oak and purple heart storage box. I love the color combination of the light wood and purple heart. The box was glued up, and then sliced in half on the table saw. This ensured that both halves matched up. Then I cut some slots to accept some purple heart splines. This is to reinforce the corners. After some sanding and making the handle, I applied several coats of wipe on polyurethane. I chose to use a satin finish and am very happy with the results.
