I’m right in the middle of my cigar box guitar build. This project involves building a neck. One of the steps to making a neck comfortable is filing the fret ends. This set of files will file the ends of the frets even with the fretboard, and the other one files a 35 degree bevel on the ends. This removes all the sharp edges and makes it very comfortable to play. There will still be some manual filing required after using these, but these files reduce the amount of hand filing needed.
I made these from some pieces of mahogany, HDPE plastic, and some files. I had all these parts on hand already so it didn’t cost me anything to make these. There are commercial versions of these, but they cost up to $70.00. This project works great and was nowhere near $70.00.
