Homemade Guitar Neck Rest

In preparation for a couple guitar commissions I have coming up, I began looking at my tools and processes I currently have. I’m looking at ways to improve the quality, speed up the build, and ultimately make the job easier to complete. I decided I could use a neck support caul, and a neck rest for doing setups.
Making these items requires a cool technique for cutting coves on the table saw. With the use of a temporary fence clamped at an angle to the table saw blade, you can cut coves. It is a fun technique that I recommend you at least play around with and see how you might be able to integrate it into a project.
After cutting the coves and a bit of sanding, I glued on some cork to protect the guitars finish. I finished it all up with a couple coats of Danish Oil. Danish Oil is my personal favorite finish for tools like this. It is great for files, sanding blocks, and for tools you will be using regularly. There’s just something about the feel that I really like.
Check out the video of the build below, and make sure you experiment with cove cutting on the table saw.
