This is the last step in finishing this guitar. In this last installment, I’m polishing the top and getting it assembled.
For the polishing process, I’m following all the same steps I outlined in my other polishing videos. I started out by wet sanding the body with some 2000 Grit, wet/dry sandpaper. Then using a Surbuf buffing pad, on my random orbit sander, I polished it all up to a nice shine. Then to get that mirror shine, I polished it by hand, with a rag. This finishes the polishing process and really brings out the shine. Then I just had to assemble the components, solder some connections, string it up and plug it in.
This thing came out so much better than I hoped. I have spent some time playing it and am very happy with the sound and feel of this instrument.
So whats next? Currently I am working on a design of my own. With that almost complete, I am planning to make a couple of guitars that will be the official launch of Hayley Guitars. I am so excited for this next guitar project. I will be making the necks and bodies. If all goes well, these guitars will be available to the public. Stay tuned for updates on this progress. Meanwhile, have a look at the process of completing this guitar in the video below.
Surbuf Pad Update
Unfortunately, the Surbuf pads seem unavailable on Amazon at this time. I hope that doesn’t mean they stopped making them. Here’s an affiliate link to the product page. I will be watching this for sure because I need to order some more. https://amzn.to/2I6rq2J
