How to fill Wood Grain, and Gaps in your joinery

So you just made a sweet finger jointed box and discovered that some of the joints arent really tight. There are some gaps that don’t look all that great. How to you fill the gaps in your finger joints and make your joinery look better? Its easy.

All you will need is some sort of finish. In my case, I’m using wipe on Polyurethane. Grab a piece of sandpaper. I’m using 220. Apply some poly to the joint you want to fill, and then start sanding the joints. The sanding will create dust which mixes with the polyurethane, and creates a slurry which fills the gaps.

Easy Peasy.

This simple method also works for grain filling porous wood. Try it out. It works great.
