Make your own Wood Finish | A Simple Home Brew Finish

Do you like the feel of an oil finish but wish it had a little more protection like a Polyurethane? I have a finish you might want to try.

This finish is made up of 3 readily available ingredients and can be mixed up in no time. All you need to to is mix up equal parts wipe on polyurethane, boiled linseed oil, and mineral spirits. Mix them together in some sort of jar and BAM! Youre done. To make the measuring easier, I used a measuring cup to make marks on my jar. This way I can just pour the ingredients to the premeasured lines. It doesn’t get mush easier.

To apply this finish, you can use a brush, either foam or regular, or a rag. In my sample project I’m using a cotton rag. Just wipe it on, let it dry, sand in between coats and apply a second coat. You can apply as much or as little as you want. Its so easy to use.

If you’ve been looking for a different sort of finish to try. I would recommend trying out this one. You can try different gloss levels of poly to get different results. Its simple and fun to use. Check out the demo video below.
