Building the Java Cigar Box Guitar

My neighbor hooked me up with 2 matching cigar boxes that I think will be awesome as a set. I’m going to make a cigar box guitar and a matching cigar box guitar amp. This is part 1 of 2 in this mini series. We’ll be making the cigar box guitar today, and next week will be the CBG Amplifier.

This guitar build went awesome. I ran into a few snags here and there but that is to be expected when working on these 1 off type of projects. There’s not a standard set of plans for an instrument like this because each different style of cigar box has different dimensions to work with. Each one has to be customized as you go. Thats part of the fun and challenge.

I couldn’t be happier with the way this turned out. It sounds awesome, and looks great. Stay tuned to the Hayley Guitars website when this series is done as the 2 piece set will be available for sale. Check out the CBG build below and stay tuned for the amplifier next week.
