It is now time to build a matching amplifier for the Java guitar. I ordered a kit from a company called The Jam Jar. This post isn’t sponsored by Jam Jar, but I’ve wanted to try out their products since I first heard of them. The kit I’m going to be stuffing into this cigar Box is the Blueberry. The Blueberry amp is a 1.25 Watt amp, powered by only a 9V Battery. Again, not sponsored by them but if you’d like to find out more, you can visit their website.
This build went pretty smoothly and had a few unplanned design improvements along the way. Those things are to be expected. I was able to get all the openings cut and components installed without a hitch. Once I got it powered up, I am blown away by how loud this little thing is for being only powered by a 9 volt battery. It’s crazy. There are no controls for tone and volume on the amp so it is all controlled by your guitar. It is very responsive to any changes in your pick attack while playing, as well as to any changes you make to your guitar tone and volume. This little thing can even be attached to an external guitar cabinet. I tried it out on my 4×12 and it powered it and sounded good. I must say I’m impressed.
This was a super fun project, and I really like this as a set with the matching Cigar Box Guitar. Be on the lookout for some better video demos. I’ll definitely be reaching out to a few friends of mine to try this out. Check out the build video below.
