Its time for the next step in the acoustic guitar build. I’m ready to begin gluing the braces on the top and back plates. In order to do that, I need to build a simple Go-Bar Deck to hold them in place while gluing.
A Go-Bar Deck is really just a clamping surface that holds the radius dish while gluing braces and performing other operations during the building process. It uses tension created by a top deck to hold the clamping sticks in place. I designed my radius dishes to be used to create the deck, by connecting them with threaded rod. I was able to use a CNC Machine to cut out the radius dishes. I made both a 15′, and a 28′ radius dish. They turned out awesome and after assembling the deck and cutting the bendy clamping sticks, I’m ready to start gluing.
This whole thing makes a lot more sense if you just watch the video. Words are hard.
