Todays project caused me a bit of pain. Actual, real, pain. I got kicked in the head by a wooden cow. I know, it sounds crazy right? Its true.
I was commissioned to build a wooden cow dummy that will be used in some local horse show events. I made this little guy from some treated 2″x6″ material, and some 6″ reclaimed treated fence posts. It wasn’t a terribly difficult build as I just needed to cut out the legs and head on the bandsaw, drill a few holes and bolt it together. I did have to make some acrylic templates to speed up the layout process. This wasn’t necessary, but I weanted to take the time to make the templates in case I needed to make more of these in the future.
So how did I get kicked? Well, during the assembly process I was working the legs into place on the threaded rod. Somehow, I managed to pull the leg back and it pivoted right into my forehead at a high rate of speed. It was one of those deals where you see the bright light for a split second then you feel the pain. I’m ok though, lol, but my head was sore for a few days.
Anyway, other than that, this project was super fun to make. I almost didn’t make a video on it, but I’m sure glad I did. I love how this little cow turned out. I’m already thinking of other uses for this basic design. I may be elaborating on it in the future to use it for other things.
