Getting my John Deere LT160 ready for the Mowing Season

Last year, I managed to break the hood hinge and hood on my riding lawn mower. Somehow, it flew forward and put a giant crack in the top of the hood leaving nothing to hold the hood on except for a bungee cord I used to secure it. I don’t want to deal with that this season so I decided to get this repaired.

Since this mower is getting older and has a lot of hours on it, I really didn’t want to pay the John Deere Prices for their replacement parts. I decided to take the chance and order some aftermarket parts. I was a bit skeptical doing this as I’ve had some bad experiences with overseas aftermarket parts before. Once I got the parts in, I found that the fit and finish was quite good. All of the pieces fit well, and the colors matched pretty good. I was able to replace the parts and get the hood back into working condition. Now I don’t need to rely on the bungee cord to hold the hood in place.

All that’s left is to service the engine and we’re ready to mow. Check out how I replaced the parts in the video below, then see how to service the engine. Thanks for stopping by.
