Its time to start in on a new acoustic guitar build. In this first episode, I’m getting the plates joined and roughly thicknessed. For this build I’m using some awesome Ambrosia Maple for the back and sides. My buddy Paul Waldrop, of Waldrop Guitars, sent me this sweet set to use for this build. Thanks Paul! For the top I’m using some Port Orford Cedar. I think the combination will work well together. I used the jigs I made during the first acoustic build to prepare these parts and get them glued together. After a few passes through the drum sander, they are smoothed out and roughly to thickness. I trimmed away the excess material and that’s where we will pick up for the next episode. I’m excited to be starting on another acoustic. Be sure to follow along as I’ll be making a series of videos during this process. Check it out below.
