I’m back on the acoustic guitar build. This time, I’m making and installing the rosette. I decided to try a radial rosette, made from some end grain elm. I used a jig inspired by the Radial Rosette Maker, which is the jig Eric Schaefer makes and sells on his website. This jig allows me to cut the radial pieces at the right angles and glue them in place. I used my CNC machine to cut out the finished rosette. Then using my rotary tool and a circle cutting jig, I cut the recess into the cedar top. I used some maple purfling around the rosette to give it a lighter pop of color. It worked great and now I have the rosette complete and am now ready to start bracing the plates.
