Epoxy and Wood Guitar Body | Fail????

This project is one that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’ve been holding on to these live edge pieces of maple for over a year, I think its time to give this a try. Spoiler alert! Maybe I should have waited. LOL.

After attempting this Epoxy Center Guitar body, I ran into one giant issue. The curing temperature of this thickness of epoxy was way too high. It got very hot and caused the top layer of epoxy to harden. This would not allow any air bubbles to come to the surface and the epoxy couldn’t self-level. Now I’m left with a bunch of tiny air bubbles in the surface that I just can’t seem to fill. Also, I don’t know the integrity of the epoxy inside. Is it filled with bubbles as well and possibly not super strong? Its a chance I do not want to take and that’s why I’m setting this aside for a while. I need to decide what I’m going to do with it.

I’d like to hear your feedback on this problem as well as what I should do with this piece. Check out the video below and leave a comment. Thanks for stopping by.
