I’ve been asked several times how I do a faux binding on a guitar body. I thought now would be a great time to show you my process of doing a faux binding as I’m working on this Hayley Guitars Tonic. I’m calling this one the Corona Burst, as I’m working on it during the Covid Pandemic.
What is a Faux Binding? Faux Binding is the process of finishing a guitar in a way that the Maple, or other wood on the top of the guitar, has an unfinished edge and looks like a wooden binding. Its not actually binding but has a very similar look.
There are a couple ways to achieve this look. Here is my process.
I hope this video helps to answer a few questions about doing a faux binding. If you have a different process, I’d love to hear about it. Thanks for stopping by.
