Earlier this year, I replaced the front tires on my riding lawn mower. In that video, I mentioned that I may need to replace the rear tires on the mower in the near future. Well, the rear tires kept going flat and I decided to change them. A few viewers of that video said they’d like to see me do the rear tires. The time has come.
I approached this the exact same way as the front tires, not really knowing how it would go. The rear tires are a bit larger, and I chose to go with a bit heavier duty set of tires. I was able to get the old worn out tire off the rim and one side of the new tires on the rim, but for some reason I just could not get the 2nd bead of the tire onto the rim. I even had a friend help me out and the 2 of us couldn’t get it on. I ended up taking the tires to my local tire shop and having them complete the job.
I was hoping to be able to share some tips and suggestions I received in the comments of the first tire changing video, but these tires had other plans. I suppose the words of advice to take away from this project is that sometimes things don’t go as planned. When this happens, its okay to get some help to get it done. As someone who likes to try to do everything I possibly can on my own, to have to have someone else finish what I started sort of feels weird, but we need to be able to recognize when we’re unable to do something and get some help. That could mean calling a friend for help, or in my case, taking these tires to a tire shop. Its OK to admit when you’re stuck and get some assistance.
