Snowman Candle Holder

Here’s another easy project you can get the kids involved in. My daughter Hayley and I made these fun and functional snowman candle holders from a fallen limb.
This project started off a lot like our Christmas Ornaments, with us cutting some discs from a fallen tree branch. This time we selected different sizes that would make up our snowman. After sanding them, we connected the different sizes using a piece of hardwood dowel. We gave our snowmen faces by drilling some divets in the wood and filling it with acrylic paint. For the base, we took a scrap of log and drilled a couple pockets to hold some tea light candles. We then attached the snowmen with some more dowels. After attaching the arms, which were made from some mechanics tie wire stuck into a hole drilled in the side, I gave them a couple coats of clear lacquer to seal them up.
These turned out great and were super fun to make. I enjoy working with Hayley in the shop. I know its great experience for her, and for me too. I like to see her face when the projects start to come together. Projects like this are great for kids. It teaches them things, that a lot of times, they might not learn otherwise. So, like Hayley says in the video, you can copy us and make your own. I challenge you to do just that. Go find someone you can make something with, and go make something.
