Barn Wood Picture Frames

Its time to make some frames. I have a couple of music related pieces that need a proper frame. I’m going to use some reclaimed barn wood that my brother sent me. Thanks Tim!
I decided to use my table saw to cut the rabbets that will hold the glass, art, and backer. This is really easy to do once the pieces are ripped down to the width you need. You just set the blade height equal to the width and depth of the rabbet. Then run the piece in 2 passes to remove a slice of wood. Rabbet complete! Then, using my miter sled, I cut 45 degree angles to make the frame. Remember to label the pieces with what side of the blade they were cut on. You always want to match up a left and right to get the best results. A little wood glue, and a band clamp secure the piece into a frame. I lightly sanded the frames to remove any splinters and applied a couple coats of danish oil.  Next its on to the glass. I used some glass I picked up from the local big box store, and a simple glass cutter (affiliate link below if you need a glass cutter) to cut the pieces down to the size I need. I placed the glass, artwork, and a cardboard backer into the frames and secured them with some tab points made for picture framing. (affiliate link below)
These frames came out great. I really enjoy the look of the barn wood.
